A Place for You …Trinity Missions
The goal of Trinity Missions is to be a caring community that models the life and practice of Christ in extending service to others with acts of justice and mercy. We have established partnerships with ministries locally, in Ohio, in our country, and beyond our borders. We provide many opportunities for the Trinity congregation to participate and, generally, mission activities can accommodate a range of time commitments—there is a place for you within Trinity Missions! Some activities ask for once-a-year involvement, others a flexible, occasional commitment, and other activities can provide, if you choose, ongoing mission experience. As we step out into the world, there is much joy in the reciprocity and the mutual learning provided by mission opportunities. We hope you will join us.
All Mission Council activities and outreach opportunities are announced in the Sunday bulletin and the Trinity Times newsletter publication that is sent to members of the congregation. You are always welcome to bring friends! Information is also available at the MissionVision table in the Narthex.
Contact information is provided for each mission opportunity listed below. Rev. Amy Aspey (aaspey@rrohio.com or 488-0695) can also provide information about other ways people can use their gifts for service.

New Life provides a free hot breakfast every Sunday and Tuesday morning, a free dinner on the last Sunday of the month, operates a free clothing room that is open every Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning and offers free health-care on Sunday mornings.
Trinity member Vickie Moseley is the clothing-room steward. This ministry welcomes and serves more than 2,000 people a month. Trinity has many volunteers working in the clothing room and also assisting with other ministries. Our members volunteer with the youth program, participate in the van ministry on the 3rd Sunday of the month, and also assist with the new Health Care Ministry.

Interfaith Hospitality Network/ YWCA Family Center
Trinity's commitment to serving the community is exemplified through the congregation's work with the YWCA Family Center, a nationally recognized facility that provides meals, shelter and support to temporarily homeless families. Prior to the opening of the Family Center, Trinity participated with IHN in welcoming homeless families to our church during five weeks of the year. We provided shelter, meals and hospitality for up to 16 individuals during each week. Trinity was engaged in the vision to move the Interfaith Hospitality Program from church sites to its own facility, and helped celebrate the opening of the YWCA Family Center in October 2005. Trinity continues to work with the YWCA and other faith communities to serve homeless families in a different "hosting" experience at the Family Center location, and we need lots of volunteers! Trinity serves dinner one weekday evening a month and also a Sunday night dinner every other month. Please check the Mission Vision table for opportunities to help by donating food or volunteering to serve.

ANNUAL MISSION OPPORTUNITIES
Easter on Fifth
This church-wide Lenten mission project benefits New Life Church and its homeless ministries. We raise funds to buy, package and deliver new bedding to the clothing room for distribution to our New Life neighbors. Packing Day is held on Good Friday (April 10) in Trinity’s Fellowship Hall following a noon worship service. Many volunteers are needed in a variety of ways.

Cuisine For a Cause: Dinner and Silent Auction
On Friday, April 24th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Trinity will host "Cuisine for a Cause." Last year's event was a huge success and over $14,000 was raised to support the Trinity Bed at Grace Children's Hospital in Port au Prince, Haiti!
This year, Cuisine for a Cause will raise funds to support the Trinity bed at Grace, as well as, other Trinity mission efforts. There are many ways to help with this event from silent auction donations to decorations to making an appetizer. Many, many hands are needed!

Bethlehem on Broad
During the Christmas season, Trinity joins with other local churches in assembling and distributing food boxes to families in need throughout the Columbus area. Last year, Trinity reached its goal of 500 boxes through the generous donations and efforts of our congregation. We also were able to make a generous donation to the Inn at Broad, which offers temporary housing to homeless families. Volunteers are needed to pack food boxes in Fellowship Hall, load and transport boxes downtown, and distribute to families from Broad Street UMC. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn about helping others.
Packing Day: December 12th
Loading Day: December 13th
Distribution Day: December 20th
